The Idea

Our story is as unique as our specialised designs.

We have experience spanning across a variety of racing competitions including superfast bikes, boats and cars – from both personal racing experience and later from team or event management perspective – each of us respected in our own fields, in particular for ensuring every detail was achieved to a high specification.

With 40+ years of shared experience between us we realised we had accumulated various engines and components along the way, hidden in dark corners of our workshops. We saw an opportunity to turn some of them into a ‘momento’ for ourselves, using engines that reminded us of specific events (and mechanical mishaps). Starting with an engine that had blown a hole in itself during one memorable race, we designed and created our first piece of furniture: a coffee table.

And the rest, as they say, is history. Largely designing as we went, each piece has been a lot like some of the events we completed. We are both very detail orientated and focus on all the finer specifics of each piece: all the things that make each design a distinctive and one-off piece.

Fellow competitors and friends with a similar horsepower pedigree asked for their own high specification designs and we have now completed coffee table centre pieces for clients in every continent. We also apply the same level of attention to the finer points of smaller objects in our collection, including photo frames, light fittings and side tables.

The result today is an exclusive Racing Collection bespoke design service focusing on blocks and components from high-performance race engines. The custom service begins with sourcing rare items, each with its own unique technical information and individual history certificate. They are then meticulously taken through a transformation into a piece of furniture that you will be proud to make the centerpiece of your home or place of work.

These unique designs are made exclusively to order in accordance with the enthusiasm, vision and requirements of you the client.

We can use your own engine parts as a starting point, to ensure you have a lasting, restored memory and talking piece for yourself.

The Ornamentum project has gradually evolved into an imaginative and popular ‘upcycling’ service, utilizing engines and components that would otherwise be unused or deemed too close to the tolerance boundaries for top performance engines.

Due to the rarity of these designs, we have also developed collection designs made from non-racing items. These pieces are proving to be popular gifts with a difference.
